Storytelling etiquette

Vlisco Stories is the collection of stories and narratives of Vlisco fabrics and their meanings. Vlisco archives its fabrics by means of a numerical code. When the fabrics arrive in the market, the fabrics are given a name. Every name has a unique story, a unique location, a personal experience and a personal narrative. As far as we know Vlisco is the only company or brand in the world where the people and not the company gives the name of the products.

The guidelines below are suggestions to help keep our community positive and to ensure that every story is unique and useful to other people.

Respect the community

Vlisco Stories is your community - a community of people. We know that individual tastes and experiences are personal; please be respectful in the way you tell your stories, in your comments and conversations.

Be who you are

Vlisco Stories is an expression of who we are. We think being authentic to who you are is more important than getting lots of followers.

Give credit to your sources

Please document as detailed as possible who is the source of the story. If you notice that a story is not sourced correctly, leave a comment so the original storyteller can update the source.

Report inappropriate content

We do not allow hateful content, or content that encourages people to hurt themselves. If you find content that violates our Terms Use Policy you can submit the content for review by pushing the "Flag as inappropriate" link.

How can we make Vlisco Stories better
?

We're just getting started, in the coming month there will be improvements and we strive to put as many fabrics as possible on our site. Let us know what's working, what's not. Do you know a story and you can’t find the fabric on this site: you should send us a mail at: stories@vlisco.com
