The 'Souvenir Hollandais' Superwax pattern was specially created for the event in Shanghai ‘World Expo 2010’. Vlisco was introduced as exhibitor to the Dutch government by John Körmeling, the architect of the Dutch pavilion ‘Happy Street’, suggesting a street full of life. John Körmeling was inspired by the figure eight, a Chinese lucky number. The pattern incorporates the ‘Happy Street’ logo in a snow globe to acquaint visitors with Vlisco as the sole authentic designer and manufacturer of ‘Wax Hollandais’.
