This colourway, which was promptly christened ‘Philipshave’ in production in Helmond, is typical of Igbo products. The motif is taken from a ceremonial sword belonging to the regalia of the Asentehene, the king of the Ashantis in Ghana. In Benin the pattern is called ‘corkscrew’.
