Fallen tree

This pattern is especially popular in Ghana. The meaning that it has come to acquire is that a solitary tree catches all the wind and snaps, clearly suggesting that if you try to support your family and friends all by yourself if will be the end of you. The name ‘Zaire’ has to do with the story that cacao brought great riches to Ghana and Ivory Coast by sales to DRCongo, thereby bringing money in from Zaire, the current DRCongo.

Also known as: l’Arbre tombé
