Apkirikpa azu

Akpirikpa azu in Igbo language means fish scale. It is so called among the Igbos of eastern Nigeria because the design looks similar to the scale pattern on the tropical tilapia fish. My mum told me it was very popular at a time and every married woman who could afford it owned one.
